In Mortality

invictus

"Out of the night that covers me
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance,
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul."

William Ernest Henley

about

Juno
Age: ???
Pronoun: they
An angel-like being created by a false god as one of innumerable divine weapons. Built to obey, and nothing more.Their true visage has yet to be seen.

a note

Their illustrations, though unique to their lore, draw inspiration from my own experiences and struggles, affected by the intersection of different facets of my identity. The storytelling pieces are artistic interpretations of my emotions surrounding such events. However, Juno's story is also left intentionally vague and up for reader interpretation. My hope is that you, the viewer, can relate to them or interpret their story and/or artwork through your own lens, in a way that is meaningful to you and your own identity. They are not a character in terms of typical artist OCs, but rather a vessel.

Themes include:
Identity, dysphoria, autonomy, relationships, death & mortality, and the fight for the right to simply exist against an oppressive and unforgiving higher power that you are helpless against.

birth
"My Darling True" • Nicole Dollanganger

birth

"Beloved, you were borne of my womb and carved delicately by my hands. You are one of many children, but you are my most cherished.Serve me well, and you will be rewarded."

death

"To become "human," to be a creature of feeling and desire...you have committed the utmost blasphemy. You have done worse than fail me, and for that you must pay the ultimate price. You will be flayed and stripped of the wings you so believe signify your most coveted sin of "freedom." Your scornful, wretched body will be suspended, hanged for all to see. After six eons of enduring your raw, carrion flesh left to the caress of the Abyss, you will be cleaved into six, each part scattered throughout that damnable Earth you so sought refuge upon, so you may not reform.May your blood-kin dare not lift so much as a finger to sin against me as you have, for you are a display of what will become of them. This is your reward."

the cruelty
"Skullcrusher" • yeule

postmortem

"At last, I've found each part of God's most favored, save for a single limb...but no matter, if I succeed, that can be amended very easily."

the performance
"Amber Waves" • Ethel Cain

rebirth

"What have you done to me? You have resurrected me against my will, trapping me once more inside this body I had loathed so vehemently. You have cast upon me an eternal fate worse than death. You may think of yourself as God, but you are far crueler."

extras

the hilarity of the ouroboros
"On My Knees" • Holy Taker

Feel my bitter, rotting pulse,
A weak flutter
Defeated beat of butterfly's ragged wings
Irregular rhythm of resignation
Fading whisper in wait for Godot
I want for nothing, and yet
I desire everything
